Christmas Project 10 sculptures 

We went to the garden to look at the different plants inside looking for inspiration. I thought of the relationship and communication between people and plants. Plants are like elves, we would talk about our trifles to the plush toys as an object of listening when we were in the childhood.So I started to wonder if plants also needed a listener to listen to them.I start to consider the feeling of plants and some troubles they may be face or solve as myself as a piece of plant.I find that there are too crowd to stretch their body (leaves) in a small space, they are be placed together and branches and leaves overlapped together.And also some fruits have their shells to cover them but some just naked in the public.It makes me feel very shy, if they has the awareness to protect their body, they must hide themself in this situation.

Contextual Practice

I start to do some model with structure can open and close that placed under the armpit.

I also do some material experiments with balloon.To use balloon to cover the bottle cap creat a private space, and use different order to wrap it repeatly with some little balls inside.And placed on different body parts.

I do some some researches in pomegranate growth to find pomegranate's armpits.

I do some collage of the process of pomegranate growth, and I extracted the bud structure as the main part.That feeling of flower blooming in bud as the same as girls in puberty.According to the basis shape ,I develop the model deeply.In order to express the sense of difference,I use some little pearls to intersperse as a ripe fruit falling.

Contextual Practice

on contextual practice, we discussed our project each other and spoken influently with partners as an interview.And tutor shared some false examples to let us find the mistakes.SO we summarized some points to avoid when we doing the A2 sheets.Like when we doing the portfolio sheet, we need to consider the lay out that do not be too crowed or serpented, so the content can be real plentiful，makes an visual effect to the interviewer.

I try the different types of scale and detail.

• 1. I try to use balloon to cover the copper scale , makes it tight to obviously show the outline.
• 2. I put some small and big balls with pearls inside to strut it.But it looks little bit messy because the texture of the surface is similiar to balls.
• 3. I combine the elements together ,the colours of feather are not balance, can be more strength.
• 4. I adjust the balloon, let the scale clear and do not be hided by balloon.
• 5. Adding pearls around the holes.
• 6. Spraying the colour on it ,and makes feather gradual changes from red to yellow.

Test of the effect of some feathers, and I first stained them with propylene water and found that if the acrylic was more, the feathers would be too hard, if the water was too much, the color would be too light, but the feather texture was good.Finally, I choose the gradual colours from red to orange and yellow, and makes feather  separated.
